Welcome to Part 2 of my photo collection from my US & Canada Travels earlier in 2014. If you missed it, the first part is here. At the end of the last post my mate Brendan & I were just finishing our stay at the Grand Canyon and were about to start the trek north out of the (comparatively) warm Arizona desert toward the Mountain Resorts in the Rockies. This drive was probably my favourite few (non-snowboarding) days of the trip; the change in the landscape was dramatic and the vastness of the empty wilderness was humbling. I hope you enjoy the trip even a little bit as much as I did…

One of only 237 known wild Californian Condors…
Previously extinct in the wild, breeding programs have allowed the re-introduction of the species into the wild; we were pretty lucky to spot two more cruising around the area…
A view back over the road just travelled… (36°43’22.42″N,112° 3’36.60″W)

…and the sketchy, icy, slippery, sheer rock I scrambled up with Brendan’s help to get the shot. Not recommended for those without travel insurance.
Arches National Park delivers the awesome. ( 38°37’28.12″N, 109°35’58.45″W)
Oversize loads, American Style…
The journey between Salt Lake City and Jackson. The conditions started off bad…
Then got worse…
Until it was just a matter of deciding where in the white the road was…
The WRC Focus enjoys a well earned rest… (43°18’08.3″N,110°46’33.2″W)
While Brendan enjoys a dance break. Yay, fresh snow!
And that gets us up to Day 17. Next up, Jackson, before we head North to Canada. More posts to come!
